Choosing A Dance Class

These factors should be considered when deciding on what dance class to take.

  1. What type of dance class are you interested in taking?
  2. What is the purpose / need for the class?
    • Is it a passionate desire to perform?
      • Serious dance requires serious discipline and effort?

    • Do you want to dance on air at your wedding?
    • Do you want to dance like a pro at the club?
    • Is dancing a fun addition to your fitness program?
  3. What is your musical preference?
    • Does the dance that you want to learn include that?
  4. Will the chosen dance form be useful outside of class?
  5. What is the size and frequency of the desired class?
    • Is the teacher / student ration sufficient?
      • Young students and advanced classes require more instructor attention.
    • Is the sufficient one on one time?
    • Are there times available for group practices?
  6. Proper technique is very important in both serious and recreational forms of dance.
    • Is safety stressed?
    • Proper form? (crucial to a fulfilling experience)
  7. What will it cost to reach the desired dance skill level?
